The Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a site that pays homage to the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Designed by architect Alfred Preis, the memorial floats above the sunken USS Arizona, where around 1,100 soldiers lost their lives in the surprise military strike. Initially criticized for its stark-white color and slightly curved shape resembling a squashed milk carton, the structure's unique design symbolizes initial defeat and ultimate victory.
Really enjoyed our morning in Pearl Harbor. Facilities are much improved since my last visit 16 years ago. The reservations we easy to get and definitely the way to go. After a short intro to the memorial site, they take you over to it on a boat. Just enough time on the memorial to look around, talk to the rangers and get any photos. The museums are full of info and artifacts. This site participates in the Junior Ranger program for kids. Also make sure to arrive early since parking is limited and no bags of any kind inside the gates. Definitely worth checking this historic site out.

So this review will primarily address the Battleship USS Missouri tour.Arrived at Pearl Harbor National Park around noon on Friday and walked through security to purchase 2 tickets. No issues. If you have a military or veteran ID present it for a discount. Discount is only for the individual holding the card.Drove to the Battleship on Ford Island (ensure you can do that as the Island is actively guarded and has restricted access, if not no biggie as there is a nice air-conditioned bus to take you).We walked to the entrance. Go to the end, basically where the ship is, and turn left. Past the concession stands there is another checkpoint to enter the ship. They will take your picture there and then you proceed to the ship. If you want buy a bottle of water at one of the stores and you can bring it along otherwise no food and beverages are allowed. As we boarded a volunteer group informs you of a free guided 3 stop tour. We opted for the tour and enjoyed it greatly.Price seemed expensive but the experience was unique, educational, and fun.Highly recommend if you have the time.

Very touching, seeing where the attack happened, seeing the museum was a good experience as well. Definitely suggest watching the movie they have, by where you line up to go see the ship, BEFORE going out to see the battleship Arizona. It gets you really into the sensation of what happened that day, and shows real footage of the attack. It also gives you some of the back story of why it happened. It was also great to see the Missouri as well. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience to see where WW2 started for us, and to also see where it ended for us, all in the same place.

Beautiful memorial and powerful experience. We accidentally did the boat ride to the Arizona memorial before going through the museum, I would recommend going through the museum first so it is more significant.NOTE: they do NOT allow any bags in and it is $7 to check a bag! Wish I had known this beforehand because we had to walk all the way back to the car in the rain

It was a special and solemn moment to step foot on the memorial. To see the harbor from the boat ride facilitated by the US Navy to the memorial was a lot to take in. If you plan to visit please be respectful as this is the finally resting place for many and you never know who has connections to those who have passed since many come often to pay their respects and visit. It’s free to go to the memorial site but please note it does get busy so it best to go earlier like anything in Oahu. Don’t forget to visit the other sites like the USS Bowfin or the aviation museum. A lot of history is here and if you are an American it is one of few places where we’ve ever been attacked. For me learning about it in a classroom versus actually being there was so different. I hope you find your visit as enriching as it was for me to learn about US history on another level.

Bucket list trip. Gorgeous, serene setting. Very moving at times, knowing what happened here and that I was standing over the remains of over 900 lost souls. After a short boat ride across the harbor from the visitors center, you have about 12-15 minutes on the memorial, so be quick in taking your pictures and paying your respects.

Another to say if you have questions ask. Let's see if I'm able to assist. You do not have to buy all the tickets at one price. You can buy tickets as you go. You're only saving 1$ if you get the whole package. I only did the Mighty Mo and the Arizona Memorial. I skipped the Aviation and the Bowfin Sub. You must prepare for an all day deal. If you're into History.

Visiting the Pearl Harbor National Memorial was a deeply moving and educational experience. Stepping onto the grounds, one instantly feels the weight of history and the sacrifices made by those who were here on December 7, 1941. The exhibits are meticulously curated, offering a comprehensive insight into the events leading up to and following the attack. The USS Arizona Memorial, in particular, is a poignant tribute, allowing visitors to pay their respects to the fallen in a solemn and respectful manner. The knowledgeable staff are passionate about sharing the significance of this site, adding depth to the experience. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking to understand a pivotal moment in world history, the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a must-visit destination.

Prepare for a day of walking, so wear good shoes. There are strict, no bags or purses rule. Purchase a clear bag, and you'll be fine. Wish I'd known. The submarine was fun to explore, and the museums taking you through the history of WW2 and The Cold War.They did a fabulous job with the design of the museums for each topic. The memorial for the Arizona is a beautiful tribute to our lost sailors and soldiers. Please be respectful when visiting this memorial, be quiet. We couldn't get through all of the exhibits, but we got most of them in.Highly recommend the lighthouse tour. You get a good view of bay and the history of the invasion with a visual perspective. The USS Missouri is available for tour as well. It's really a good way to understand the experience of living aboard ship. The burger at the air museum was pretty darn tasty and the dole whip is a must to help cool down.Bring quarters if you want to press a penny- Air museum.

Great experience, probably what impressed me (besides the history of what happened in Pearl Harbor) is that there's oil coming out, you really can see it and smell it. The place is very very small, it is a quick walk. Of course it is a memorial so, not sure why people take small kids here, I would go to the Missouri boat with them instead

Pearl Harbor is a must see. We bought our Arizona tickets the day before at 3pm and a passport for the rest onsite. Make sure you're logged in a few minutes before, tickets are gone within seconds. Look over the edge of the Missouri and you'll likely see turtles. The food across from the Missouri is really good! The shave ice was a nice treat on a hot day. You aren't allowed to bring in any bags but we carried our things through and then bought a reusable bag at the gift shop for $3 to carry phone/waterbottle/charger etc.

We went on the weekend, and we were able to get on standby. We got in line at 7:30, the first boat went out at 8:00, and the standby line was a little long so we didn’t get on until the 8:15 boat—not bad! The Arizona is at eternal rest and tells her story of that fateful day in silence. It is moving and extremely educational. I recommend that you watch the several movies put together that explain the tensions leading into the event and the happenings during and after the invasion. The memorial visit is free, however, the parking is $7. Also, no handbags or dogs are allowed. You can carry clear bags into the memorial.

This was such a memorable visit. The tour is so delicately done. It was fascinating, albeit heart breaking, seeing the vessels in the water and where it all happened. We had to visit the submarine and the museum too which were fantastic too.

What a humbling experience! A definite must see if you are on Oahu. Short introduction/informational video at the beginning, then a boat shuttles you to the USS Arizona memorial. Limited to 45 minutes on the memorial itself. Be respectful of those who lost their lives here!!! Back on lane, there is another memorial along the harbor and museums too. This part of the park is free entry with a $7 parking fee.

Clean, beautiful, interesting. I would say you need to make this an all day trip since there is so much to see and read in order to understand the history of Pearl Harbor. Would love to go back some day and take my children here (I guess I took one since I was pregnant at the time of visiting this place).

Beautiful place for sure but you need a whole day to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. Aviation and battleship Missouri requires to take a shuttle to the respective museums and it takes a bit for you to get there and back. So don't try to cover it in a few hours or you will be left unfulfilled. Every place is amazing in itself with loads of history and life lessons. Submarine humbles you for the challenges people serving have to undertake. Tiny bunks and an enormous vessel. All in all, a MUST visit to know the tragedy and still feel the effects of it.

We arrived about 8:30 am, visited the Bowfin for an hour before doing our separately scheduled tour to the USS Arizona Memorial at 9:45. We were advised by others to catch the shuttle next to make sure we had time to see both the USS Missouri and the Aviation Museum. Glad we followed that guidance. We finished with the museum at the Memorial and Gift Shop just as they were closing at 4 pm. It was a wonderful day! I loved the somber, reverent atmosphere and the opportunity to remember the sacrifices made by many.

Such a somber, heartbreaking, yet beautiful monument for those lost in the Pearl Harbor attacks. Our tour group arrived early and that’s something I highly recommend. We were able to take it in before it got real busy with people. Witnessing the raising of the flag and the national anthem was absolutely moving. That occurred at 8:50 or 9am if I remember correctly.I recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time to guarantee that you will get to take the fairy to the USS Arizona. Otherwise you’re on standby and my understanding is that they only take a certain number of groups out there. My Mom had the wonderful idea to bring our fresh lei flowers (off the string, of course) to leave at the memorial for those still entombed in the USS Arizona. They have done a beautiful job of honoring the service men that fought for our country and died so tragically.

This is a nice memorial. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. I reserved a free timed ticket online to see the USS Arizona Memorial, which is only accessible by boat. The boat boarding process was quick and straightforward, and the memorial was beautiful. It’s an architectural marvel, especially because it floats above the wreckage, portions of which you can see from the memorial. There’s a movie shown here about the Pear Harbor attack and the causes behind it, which was quite fascinating. There are exhibits about the attack and one about radar technology used during the attack and how it differed from the radar technology of today, which was very interesting. There’s a submarine and battleship you can visit here for a fee. I gave this national memorial five stars because it has interesting exhibits and did an excellent job memorializing the tragedy that occurred here.

Such a sobering experience. Life long dream accomplished. So glad I finally got to see this. I did not take the guided tour, I just went over on the boat to see the Arizona. I did get online at recreation.gov and paid $1 per ticket just to make sure I had tickets.

A must visit when in Honolulu Hawaii and probably best done independently as I was there via a cruise ship tour, I felt that we missed out on a lot for the 2 hours we had.Would've liked to do the boat tour especially, but was a wait for every 20 minutes or so and they was a long line ahead, also limited time to watch the video...you'd be surprised how quickly 2 hours go by.I did however get to see the museum and the visitor's centre along with the expansive grounds for lovely photos, the granite plaques and marble stones memorial and photos of the submarine from outside.Left with a wealth of knowledge and greater appreciation for those who fought for their country...a good day for sure.Tip:...no bags are allowed in except for a handheld wallet and phone, they're lockers available for rent.

As a history buff, this was very interesting. We did the USS Arizona tour as well, and that was fantastic, the ranger was incredibly informative and offered so much insight into what we were seeing. The boat ride over is very calm, not choppy, easy to handle and there are good ramps to get on and off the boat. Many of the details of the attack we did not learn in school, and it was incredible to see and learn about the space where this all happened and read first-hand accounts. Would be nice to have a better welcome at the entrance to know which experience required additional ticketing and possibly a map, none of which was offered to us.

The Pearl Harbor Bus Tour was an unexpected gem of a tour. This tour presents a less common and perhaps more balanced perspective regarding the events of the attack on Oahu the day of December 7th, 1941. Our NPS Ranger and tour guide, Jason, was very knowledgeable, articulate, and passionate about the factual history of what transpired with the Utah and the Oklahoma as well as other important and lesser‐known ships and the crew members who were lost that day. Jason's compassion for the lost servicemen was incredibly moving and his presentation was captivating. If you visit Pearl Harbor, please consider this amazing, no-cost 90-minute tour (service fee of $1 per ticket).

I can only say that this had been one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had in Hawaii. I had tears, joy and pride for it’s eloquent displaces of valor. This memorial is an amazing tribute to the hero’s that served and protected our United States of America. The ferry ride was sobering and respectful to the Arizona site. Everything was without cost. We left a donation and our experience wasn’t any less greater than those who paid. It’s free to enter and the cost comes with variety of different tours your can take. There is plenty of restrooms as well as a food options. If you get the chance put this on your list.

Just so well thought out. So many exhibits to tour. I strongly recommend buying the Passport to Pearl Harbor before you arrive. Plan on about 6 hours. Parking is online only and costs $7. Details are available online. You will save money and time. The Passport does not include the Arizona Memorial. Bags are prohibited, so bring everything in your pockets. If you are arriving from the freeway in the morning, the LONG line is for Ford Island only which requires a military or government access ID. Go around that line and the next entrance is for the Historic Site. For lunch I recommend the 806 restaurant, a short walk and you won't have to give up your parking space. Great food at reasonable prices and a fantastic view of the yacht harbor. Bring water to the PH Historic Sites.

I’m of the opinion that everyone should make an attempt to visit this place at least once in their lives. The Bombing of Pearl Harbor was a significant part of our country’s history; the people who worked and died that day deserve some acknowledgement and respect. It was very informative with all the placards, displays, and short films. Seeing the wall of names-all the people who died that day-is pretty sobering.

It's a historic graveyard, a reminder, and a warning. It was moving and emotional for me because my grandfather was on the SS Reid in the harbor, at age 17, when they were attacked. I love the messages conveyed during the presentations. This is a must do on you travel plans!

This is our second visit. We did things differently this time and just came to tour the USS Missouri and the Aviation Museum. The Missouri was incredible. So huge. We did the guided tour and Michael was awesome. I wish he’d spoken just a little slower as his words tended to run together and he was of course moving his head from side to side to speak to the whole group so I felt like we missed some stuff however he imparted a LOT of information in 30 minutes. More than we could hope to remember. Exploring the ship after the tour was absolutely amazing. My husband’s grandfather was on a carrier actually stationed at Pearl and part of the fleet that left before the attack. Seeing life on board was eye opening for both of us and I think really made my husband appreciate and feel closer to his grandfather who he lost when he was 12. The experience really can’t be put into words and we would just encourage anyone visiting Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor. The things you don’t think about but find surprise you. Like the dentist’s chair, the PO, The bathroom situation and the list goes on. Sleeping in bunks with no windows anywhere. Living like that for months and months…The aviation museum was cool as well but underwhelming compared to what we expected. The most moving part was Hanger 79 and the bucket holes still in the windows. The entire experience/site is accessible but for obvious reasons not all of the ship will be able to be seen from a wheelchair and I’m not sure if the USS Bowfin is accessible at all. There are lots of restrooms, gift shops, food and parking. Give yourself time. It’s a lot of information ands a lot of ground to cover.

Beautiful and touching.*** tickets are $2 in advance via the .gov web address. Please buy them at least a week or two early, even if you might change your mind, because there is a wait. FYI if you think you're going to be busy or the weather changes, buy another set for the next day (only $2 per person).Parking is limited, if it looks like the main lot is full, save yourself the time of getting stuck waiting to get out and drive down the street there is additional parking dirt lots down the road.*** most important...do not bring any purse, bag, backpack, larger than an eye glass case, they will tell you to hike back to your car and secure the item(s).

The Pearl Harbor National Museum is a must see. The parking does fill up quickly so I'd advise showing up early. There is $7 fee for parking that is made once you take a picture of a QR code on site. The first tours out to the Arizona memorial start at 8am, but there was plenty to do between the museums and walking paths along the memorial. Took about 2 hours in total to do all museums and walking paths. If taking a tour of the Arizona memorial, I suggest making reservations up to 60 days ahead of time, however if you do not, the stand-by line appeared to be plenty busy and there was room for everyone in the stand-by line on the tours at the start of the day. The park rangers will give you a short talk before taking a 10 minute ferry ride over. You will have just 10 minutes to be on the memorial before being required to head back.

I have no words. Once you're headed to the memorial, emotions overtake you. You have to be here to understand. One personal note about my trip. My father was a teenager in Mississippi when he heard over the radio about the attack. He went on to Mobile, Alabama, to build troop carriers during the war. Fast forward, my father retired from the railroad and traveled the lower 48 in a 5th wheel, finally completing the 49 with Alaska before he passed. My brothers and I always asked why, not Hawaii ? Dad would say I'll go to Hawaii when they build that bridge. He never made it. Dad passed away in 2008. I found his hat he purchased in Alaska, marking his last trip of the 49. I made that bridge for him and took him to Pearl Harbor. You must experience it for yourself.

A reverend and emotional experience. Absolutely beautiful memorial for the 1177 fallen service men trapped in the USS Arizona. Great documentary theater. Great staff. Book and gift store well priced. Parking $7. Bag/purse storage $7. Reservations are important. Read recreation.gov on how to reserve up to a week beforehand, day of, and standby options. Best parking before 9 am tour. Please make sure you are quiet and respectful as this is NOT an attraction, it is a final resting place for the men who served their country. If you have small children and they are not used to being quiet, do not bring them. Plain and simple. Children running wild is not lōkahi. Don't let your child(ren) ruin mahalo for others.

The tour is very cool and well worth including in your travel itinerary.I just don't recommend buying a tour package on a tourist website. You lose the whole day riding the bus. You can also buy the ticket for the attraction right there, or buy it in advance on the official website.

Very good museum. If you are the first time visitor, it may be confusing as it provides many tours. If your time is tight, You need to decide whether you want to go to the sunk USS Arizona for free, or to the submarine for a charge, or the USS Missouri battleship for a charge, or the aviator museum for a charge. If you choose the USS Arizona, I recommend to book in advance. The whole memorial is meaningful and packed with lots of historical knowledge. If you are interested in the pacific war, come here for sure!

Getting reservations are tricky here. Reservations are made online and are specifically so that you have a guaranteed spot on the boat to get to the Memorial of the USS Arizona. You do Not have to have a reservation, There Is a stand-by line. It's a matter of when you are able to visit and if it's a heavy tourist day.Reservations for the next day open at 3pm Hawaii Standard Time. I've had weekend days that sold out in 15 minutes. I would suggest knowing your party size and the time prior to getting online for reservations so you can secure your time accordingly. There's so much history here. Wear comfortable shoes. There are a lot to see and do. Besides the USS Arizona there's also a submarine you can explore for a price. You can watch a film about this place in one of the theaters or just walk around and see all of the monuments and scale models. They also sell food here but I would have a meal before coming. There's also a gift store for souvenirs.

Large complex dedicated to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Some museums and exhibitions are privately run and therefore charge a fee. The Visitor Center and associated museum can be visited free of charge. Only parking is charged at 7 dollars. The museum is well laid out and the exhibition is very interesting. You should book in advance for the boat trip to the memorial of the USS Arizona. However, there is also a stand-by queue on site. The gardens are also aesthetically pleasing.

A truly humbling experience. I was told since I’ve been young that my father was drafted but was sent to Germany because his 2 older brothers were already in Vietnam. I was also told it had something to do with Pearl Harbor. I read about the Sullivan Rule but didn’t really comprehend the magnitude until I visited the USS Arizona. Make sure you visit the Waterfront Park, tour the USS Oklahoma and walk through the exhibit galleries. The Galleries lead you through the events leading up to the attack and the aftermath (do the audio tour it makes you shake your head). The memorial itself, built over the USS Arizona, is a short boat ride and a park ranger directs you to a documentary film. The marble wall inscribed with 1177 names, many with numerous brothers names, brought me to tears. The oil that still appears on the surface and will continue to appear on the surface for many years to come is shocking. And to know, years after this tragedy, that many that didn’t perish that day chose to be interred along with the ones that didn’t survive, makes you understand what type of true heroes these men were.Never forget history.

If you are not taking a tour to visit Pearl Harbor, I suggest you do your research to make the most of your time! We took a bus here from our hotel, and arrived around 1pm. This was way too late in the day to get the full experience. There are parts that are free, and parts that cost money. Some are on one side of the bay, and others you have to take a tram to. It would be best to plot out exactly what is most important to you to see and fits your budget by visiting their website. We enjoyed our time, but had wished we researched the experience more to make a better use of our time rather than winging it 😁

The park is beautiful and very well done. You cannot bring pocketbooks or any bags, unless they are clear, in the park, which we didn't know. Parking is 7$ (2024) and you pay by Qr code with your phone. But also, don't leave valuables in your car because they might be stolen. Not really helpful. We signed up for the USS Arizona tour. In the information it says that it would take an hour . There was no film in the theater like it says on the website and on the boards throughout the park..so, the whole tour was about 20 mins there and back. The people running the park seemed like we were hassling them even being there, which is sad because my husband is also a veteran.Anyhow, if you go to the gift shop and you are a veteran, you do get a discount, so make sure you ask for that. It was very clean. The only person who was super courteous was the security person at the gate. One bathroom was closed an hour before the memorial was to be closed. There is also a snack shack.

We were able to go on the Arizona tour without prior reservations on a Friday. Get there at 6/6:30am before they open at 7am, and get in the standby que asap at 7am. You don't have to wait in line until it's your turn; they will send you a text about 15 minutes before it's your turn. People coming in at 8am were being told they would be able to get on the boat to the Arizona Memorial. The 30 minute audio tour was interesting, but I don't think it added more information if you already have a basic understanding of the site. The movie is worth watching, lots of unique footage. You can take a clear bag/backpack, a big camera, and clear water bottles, otherwise you have to check in all bags. The bag storage place opens at 7am outside the park gates. We weren't able to get on the bus tour to Ford Island, and the ticket booth person said they don't have a standby line for that tour. You can get NP 5 passport stamps and maps. Only the Arizona Memorial is free; all other sea craft exhibits cost $$ (like $35+ for the Missouri). You can take the 42 bus directly to and from Waikiki. There is a small concession stand inside, but it sounds like they run out of sandwiches throughout the day. There is a water bottle refill station inside next to the men's bathroom.

An exceptional tribute to the men who served here. There’s plenty to see, entry is free however you must pay $7.33 to check each bag, even if it’s just a fanny pack. The submarine exhibit is $26 to access. The aviation museum is also additional. The boat ride to the USS Arizona is quick and easy, you spend about 15 minutes at the memorial and then they bring you back. The memorial itself is clean, impressive, and lists the names of all the men lost on the USS Arizona. Definitely worth the visit.

Everything we did was FREE. Amazing contribution of the valiant bravery to help keep this world free. Very humbled by the tributes. Definitely a haloed ground. Thankful for my grandfather and all the others service men and women. When we went the flag was at half staff because the last survivor of the Arizona had past away. If you look on the left side of the memorial there was a large butterfly. I like to think that that was the last survivor coming back to meet his brothers.

Great to have such an important and educational memorial easily accessible to the public. The mainland area is free and easy to enter though you cannot bring in bags so will be charged $7 per small bag to check it. To go to the memorial itself over the sunken ship you either have to make a reservation online for $1 or line up to take the stop of those who don't show up. We made an online reservation and it was super easy, but most who lined up got through the first or second go too.

It's a definite must see place if your going to Hawaii!! They have 4 attractions you can see, one free (Arizona), 3 you pay for. OR you can buy a pass, that includes all 4. However the pass is about 115 per person AND requires you to be there before 10am; because it's an all day thing!I would recommend if your going to the Arizona, watch the movie FIRST, it plays every hour on the 15min and 45min mark. It'll give you a much better understanding of the Arizona before going to see it.Overall the park rangers where absolutely amazing folks to ask questions too. The marines and army personal who navigate the boats are wonderful as well. All I would recommend is for you to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!

They need to be clearer on their website about bag size. They make money off visitors checking in bags. I read the site before visiting, and it only stated that there were no large bags.i had to pay $7.00 for a fannie pack. You can't bring in anything bigger than a checkbook wallet. They make thousands of dollars per day checking bags, up to $13. Most people travel with a bagOtherwise, we enjoyed everything else.

Historic place in a lovely setting. Recommend pre booking tickets if you want to go to the Arizona memorial. This is only $1 per person. It is a moving experience. Most other things there are cost to enter, such as the air museum, submarine museum, or a trip onto the Missouri.

Great visit. Lots to see. For history enthusiasts I recommend budgeting all day as I did not have enough time to see everything. You need to get boat tour tickets in advance. There is a submarine and related museum here.

Though a place with such sad history, it was a lovely experience. Quite a lot to see and experience and learn. The boat ride out to the sunken USS Arizona was interesting, though short. To all the past and current men and women in the Navy, thank you for your service.

Pearl Harbor is rich in history! Be ready to spend a few hours at this place. Parking wasn't difficult to find, especially because we got there early.Parking will cost you $7. There are posts around the parking lots. Just scan the QR.Before you enter, make sure that you bring a clear bag or else you'll have to leave it in your car or rent a locker. If your wife has a purse, make sure it's a one zipper and not two. If you have a toddler, make sure you bring some diapers and the wipes in hand, but not your diaper bag that will be left in a locker. You can bring water, and as soon as you've been checked, go to the iPads and check in to enter the USS Arizona, which is a boat ride. If you don't sign up, you won't be able to see the remains of the USS Arizona. Also, in order to access the submarine, make sure that your kiddos are older than 4 years old, or else they won't let you in. That's the only downfall for us, but we did get to see it from the outside.Other than that, be ready to spend a good 3 to 4 hours here. It's a very beautiful monument for our soldiers who died during the Pearl Harbor attack.

This experience was so heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time. I did not expect the tour to hit me like it did. My sister in law that will retire from the Army next year was with me and my 17 year old daughter who just joined the National Guards 6 months ago. It hit my heart differently as it's too close to home for me.

Costs 7 dollars to park, the lot fills up very early so be ready to circle the lot or park far and hoof it. You can't bring a bag or even a purse in, but they will let you check bags for a fee. The admission is free to the general area, but there are several spaces that cost extra, so you don't get to see much without paying. There are clean bathrooms and nice benches all over, so it would make for a lovely spot to sit and enjoy people watching.

Everything is organized very efficiently with a short film to watch before boarding the boats to view the memorial. Some restrictions have changed as one is no longer allowed to bring drinks and other items onto the memorial, and photos are not allowed while on the ramp tying up to the memorial itself. The memorial is an underwater tomb for those people who died that day and never left the ship as well as some who survived the attack and have been since interred with their shipmates. It is a very interesting memorial and no doubt you will have things to think about while you ponder. The droplets of oil still leaking up to the surface from the warship below.

It can be difficult to get a ticket to go on the Arizona. That's putting it mildly! We missed our chance, but at the door we talked to a cashier about wishing we could have gotten a ticket for the Arizona. She suggested that we get on the stand by line. We did and... We got on! It was awesome! Very moving!!! The whole memorial is a great tribute to those who experienced the devastating moment in history.

An apt tribute to the men and women who sacrificed their lives and a reminder for us of the cost of peace and freedom that we enjoy each day. Always wither go with a guide or take any audio tour to ensure you understand this place and it's seriousness in depthThe memorials were established to honor those who fought and died during the Japanese Naval and Air Forces attack on Pearl Harbor. They were set up to help preserve the stories and memories of those who served in the Pacific during World War II.Of the memorials run by the National Park Service in the Pacific, Pearl Harbor is the most popular. The main feature being the USS Arizona Memorial that honors the servicemen who died during the attack in 1941. It, along with other nearby attractions, make it the busiest visitor destination in Hawai’i.Several parts of the park are scenic sites that are not accessible to the public such as the Mooring Quays, the Five Petty Chief Officer Bungalows and the USS Utah Memorial. You can visit the USS Oklahoma Memorial on tour.

This is a very important and solemn memorial. The entire location is split into different exhibits to give a full perspective of the attack on Pearl Harbor. There is boat ferry to the USS Arizona. I highly recommend you listen and do as the sailors tell you to do.NO PICTURES WHILE GETTING OFF BOAT UNTIL YOUR INSIDE THE MEMORIAL! People are trying to get on your boat as you're coming off. It's straight to the point and the sailors will tell you...without question. Many things to see about the war on the Pacific including a submarine to discover! A very respectful, clean, and popular location to learn our American Wartime history. I as an Air Force veteran took into account the enormous sacrifice my brothers in arms took.

First, It's a Pivotal point in the history of America and Japan. A lot of people died on both sides. Go, learn, show your respect to both sides. That aside, here are some other items to be aware of.No bags are allowed (if it's bigger than a cell phone, you have to pay to store it).If you can, sign up for the tour ahead of time, otherwise when you get there all you can do is be put on standby. There is a submarine you can tour. They have a few free memorial items, and a few paid. You can take a shuttle over to the air museum also. Not a lot of food, but there was a food truck and hot dog stand. There is also a souvenir shop.
